- Ashoka Japan – Youth Venture and Swarthmore College Innovation Centre. February 10, 2021. Hosted by Prof. Denise Crossan, formerly of Trinity College Dublin. “Empathy; Power to thrive in 21st century.” This offers virtual three-day Exchange sessions. Mary Gordon will be the keynote speaker for this event.
- The University of Calgary has made pluralism a university-wide banner initiative. As part of this initiative, they are going to host a pluralism podcast/webinar series. Each podcast is 60 minutes and hosted by their Chancellor Deb Yedlin, who is a highly regarded former journalist. December 1. “Mary Gordon, Canadian educator, social entrepreneur, child advocate & parenting expert and Dr. Diane Gereluk, Dean of the Werklund School of Education will discuss helping parents and teachers understand how we can nurture and teach empathy in a digital sphere, especially when more interactions (and during COVID, more education) is digital. How do we teach critical citizenship skills like caring for your neighbour when more and more of our and our kids’ interactions OCCUR in a fractious digital arena?“
- BC Nurses Union’s 2020 Human Rights and Equity Conference. “In the Wake: Pandemics and Public Health.” November 26. This conference brings members together for professional development and to learn about social justice issues that affect the nursing profession. The theme of this year’s conference centers on the many health, social and political issues that have arisen in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference will offer members an opportunity to engage in dialogue on these and other related issues and to reflect on how we can begin to shape our collective future as nurses, health care workers and union activists. Mary Gordon will present with a discussion (live Q&A) to follow.
- Empathy & Deep Listening Session at Ashoka Changemaker Summit. November 19. This is a session on deep listening & cognitive empathy and how it has affected the work of three individuals both personally and in their system level work. Mary Gordon was invited to join as a panelist on November 19th at 16.00 CET. The other panelists are Vuslat Dogan Sabancı, an Ashoka Support Member who recently established a global foundation to support initiatives using deep listening and Kinari Webb of Harmony for Health, fellow using deep listening to save rainforests in Indonesia
- The Dalai Lama Global Vision Summit. Late October. An online event hosted in in acknowledgement of the Dalai Lama’s 85th birthday this year. The “Dalai Lama Global Vision Summit” will be a six-day virtual summit in celebration of His Holiness the Dalai Lama by bringing together teachers and speakers all illuminating the themes of the Dalai Lama’s life and work, and is personally endorsed by His Holiness. Mary Gordon will be sharing footage of her dialogues with His Holiness and a story from a dinner that she had with the Dalai Lama after one of their dialogues.

- Preschool Neuroscience Summit 2020 (Online Summit) by MindBe Education Ltd. August 31 – September 3. Keynote by Mary Gordon: “Cultivating Empathy in Children” This session will discuss why empathy is needed now more than ever in society and the pivotal role that Early Childhood Educators play in its cultivation.
- Why empathy is crucial in our post-covid world” by Firki, Teach for India. August 21, 2020, 6.00 to 7.00 pm. IST (8.30 to 9.30 am EST). Mary Gordon, Founder and President of Roots of Empathy, will describe the history, the scaling and the research on the Roots of Empathy program which is operational in 14 countries. Narrative, video and children’s art will be used to explain how this school-based initiative has captured the attention of neuroscientists around the world. Sara Lane, Director of Research, will give an overview of independent research conducted on the program from three continents.
